The Eastern Cape Department of Health aims to provide and ensure accessible, comprehensive, integrated health services in the Eastern Cape by emphasizing in the primary health care approach and optimally utilizing all resources. The Department and the health care service delivery facilitate a functional, quality-driven public health system that provides integrated health services, which is responsive to customer needs. Services include: reducing the impact of TB and HIV/AIDS; improving mother and child health services; combating and reducing diseases of lifestyle and mental conditions. Moreover, the Department enhances institutional capacity through effective leadership, governance, accountability, and efficient and effective utilization of resources.
