The Department of Community Medicine trains resident doctors in Community Medicine.  The Center for Community Medicine and Primary Health Care is a wing of the Teaching Hospital & is a privot for the numerous training activities currently being undertaken for the Residents and Undergraduate Medical students in the Department of Community Medicine.  Apart from this, the Teaching Hospital has two other catchments outposts for the rendering medical services and training.  These are the Center for Community Medicine Ukpo, the Guinness Eye Hospital Onitsha, the Primary Health Care Center, Umunya, and Trauma Center, Oba.
