The Primary Care Unit (PCU) is based within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge and conduct research and teaching to reduce ill health. The research and education aim to identify and target the behaviors that lead to chronic disease, improve early detection of illness, improve the delivery of health services in community settings, and deliver first class teaching to medical students, clinicians, researchers and educators. The research is organized into five research themes: behavior and health, cardiovascular disease and diabetes, cancer, health services research and end of life care. The PCU has rejoined the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School for Primary Care Research, which is a partnership between nine leading academic centers for primary care research in England.
